OPUS and MP3

Opus is a modern open codec that is excellent for speech and music at low bitrates. WhatsApp voice notes use it.

MP3 is the most compatible audio format there is. Every device and car stereo plays it.

In Settings you can pick the bitrate, from 128 to 320 kbit/s, and whether to keep tags such as artist and album.

Why convert on your computer?

Online converters upload your OPUS files to someone else’s server, limit file sizes and often add queues or watermarks. nxtconvert does the work locally with the same engines professional tools use, so it’s private, works offline and handles large files and big batches.
