How to convert GIF to WEBP

1. Download nxtconvertIt’s free for macOS, Windows and Linux. Install it like any other app.
2. Add your GIF filesDrag them onto the window, or click Browse files. You can add as many as you like.
3. Choose WEBPPick WEBP in the format menu next to each file, or use “Set all to” for the whole batch.
4. ConvertPress Convert. Your WEBP files appear in Downloads/nxtconvert, and the originals stay untouched.

GIF and WEBP

GIF is the classic format for short looping animations. It is limited to 256 colours per frame, so files can get large.

WebP is Google’s web image format. It is usually 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same quality and supports transparency and animation.

In Settings you can choose the image quality (Maximum to Smallest) and whether to keep or strip metadata such as camera details and location.

Why convert on your computer?
